BJP leader M S Paramananda has strongly criticized the post of Deputy Chief Minister, calling it unconstitutional and a mere tool for political appeasement. In a statement on Tuesday, he urged politicians not to plead for such positions but to fight for real power and governance.
Unconstitutional Post, Says BJP Leader
Paramananda, a prominent BJP figure in Karnataka, argued that the Deputy Chief Minister post has no constitutional backing and is often used to pacify coalition partners or factional leaders. He said, "The post of a Deputy Chief Minister is merely a political appeasement tool. It is not recognized by the Constitution and serves no real purpose in governance."
Call for Real Power
The BJP leader urged politicians to focus on acquiring portfolios with genuine administrative authority rather than symbolic titles. "Instead of pleading for an unconstitutional post, leaders should fight for real power that can bring about change and development," he added.
His remarks come amid ongoing political discussions in Karnataka, where the Congress government has appointed multiple Deputy Chief Ministers. Paramananda's comments have sparked debate on the necessity and legality of the post.
Political analysts note that the Deputy Chief Minister position has been used by various state governments to manage internal dynamics, but its constitutional validity has often been questioned. Paramananda's statement aligns with the BJP's broader criticism of the Congress government's governance style in Karnataka.
