BJP MLA Penalized for Violating Safari Rules at Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve

In a significant enforcement action, the authorities at the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) have imposed a fine on BJP MLA Karan Deotale for breaching safari regulations during a family visit. The incident, which underscores the reserve's commitment to wildlife conservation, occurred on January 30 when Deotale, representing the Warora constituency, entered the buffer zone through the Nimdhela gate in the Khadsangi range with his wife.

Strict Mobile Phone Ban Violated During Excursion

During the safari, MLA Deotale was observed carrying and using a mobile phone, an act that is strictly prohibited in both the core and buffer areas of Tadoba. This rule is enforced to safeguard wildlife by minimizing disturbances and maintaining the integrity of the reserve experience for all visitors. The violation highlights the importance of adhering to these norms to protect the delicate ecosystem of the tiger reserve.

The incident gained public attention recently after a video shared on social media revealed the reflection of a mobile device in the safari vehicle's mirror. However, TATR deputy director (buffer) Kushagra Pathak clarified that park managers had detected the violation on the same day it occurred. Acting promptly, the Range Forest Officer (RFO) of Khadsangi imposed a penalty of ₹5,000, which the legislator paid immediately, demonstrating the reserve's swift response to such infractions.

Zero-Tolerance Approach to Safari Norms

The Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve enforces a stringent ban on mobile phones during safaris as part of its efforts to ensure disciplined tourism practices and reduce human interference with wildlife. Officials emphasized that this action reflects a zero-tolerance approach to violations, aiming to set a precedent for all visitors, regardless of their status. By imposing fines and taking immediate action, the authorities reinforce the message that protecting the reserve's biodiversity is a top priority.

This incident serves as a reminder of the critical role that strict regulations play in conservation efforts. It also underscores the need for all individuals, including public figures, to comply with wildlife protection laws to preserve natural habitats for future generations.
