BJP MLA's Son Allegedly Drives SUV into Five, Injuring Them in Madhya Pradesh
In a shocking incident in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri district, five individuals sustained injuries after an SUV, allegedly operated by the son of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), collided with them on Thursday morning. The local police have promptly registered a formal case and initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
Details of the Early Morning Collision
The accident occurred at approximately 7:30 AM within the jurisdiction of the Karera police station. According to preliminary reports, a Thar SUV, purportedly driven by Dinesh Lodhi, who is the son of BJP MLA Pritam Lodhi, struck a motorcycle carrying three individuals and subsequently hit two women who were walking on the same road.
The injured victims have been identified as Sanjay Parihar, Ashish Parihar, Anshul Parihar, Sita Verma, and Pooja Soni. Sanjay Parihar, a resident of Sanheda in Datia and the complainant in this case, recounted that he, along with Ashish and Anshul, was traveling on a motorcycle towards Thanra village for work-related purposes. Meanwhile, Sita Verma and Pooja Soni were walking ahead of them on the road.
Sanjay Parihar alleged that the SUV approached from behind and first collided with their motorcycle, forcefully throwing them onto the road. The vehicle then proceeded to hit the two women who were walking. Immediately after the crash, local residents rushed to the scene and assisted in shifting all five injured persons to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Allegations Against the Accused and MLA's Response
The injured individuals have claimed that Dinesh Lodhi was indeed behind the wheel of the SUV at the time of the incident. They further stated that the vehicle bore the name "Pritam Lodhi" on the front and the designation "MLA" on the rear. In addition to the collision, the victims alleged that the accused engaged in an argument with them post-crash and issued threats. When a bystander attempted to record a video of the altercation, the accused reportedly objected and used threatening language.
In the recorded video footage, MLA's son Dinesh Lodhi is heard saying, "I was honking and using siren, why were you swerving?" This statement has added to the controversy surrounding the incident.
In response to the event, BJP MLA Pritam Lodhi emphasized that action should be taken strictly in accordance with the law. Through a social media post, he asserted that for a public representative, neither his son nor any family member is above the public. He urged the police authorities to ensure that justice is served for the victims without any bias or delay.
Legal Action and Police Investigation
The police have confirmed that a formal case has been registered against Dinesh Lodhi under specific sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), namely sections 281 and 125(A). These sections pertain to rash driving and endangering the safety of others on public roads. The investigation is currently ongoing, with authorities collecting evidence, including the recorded video and statements from witnesses, to ascertain the full circumstances of the accident.
This incident has sparked significant public attention and raised concerns about road safety and accountability, particularly involving individuals associated with political figures. The community and local authorities are closely monitoring the developments as the legal process unfolds.
