BJP Announces Nomination Filing Date Amid Campaign Controversy

In a significant political development, BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran declared on Tuesday that BJP candidates are scheduled to file their nominations on April 4. The announcement was made during a press interaction in Tirunelveli, setting the stage for intensified election activities in the region.

Allegations of Unfair Campaign Restrictions

Nagenthran raised serious concerns regarding the campaigning environment in Tamil Nadu. He asserted that, with the exception of the DMK, all other political parties are being systematically denied permission to conduct their election campaigns. This situation, according to him, has forced multiple parties to seek judicial intervention by approaching the courts to obtain the necessary approvals for their political activities.

"The current scenario is creating an uneven playing field," Nagenthran emphasized, highlighting the challenges faced by opposition groups in a democratic process.

Election Activities to Intensify with Piyush Goyal's Arrival

The BJP leader confirmed that election campaigning is poised to gain momentum following the arrival of Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday evening. Goyal's visit is expected to bolster the party's outreach efforts and galvanize support across the constituency.

Constituency Allocation and Alliance Dynamics

Addressing the allocation of the Tirunelveli constituency, Nagenthran clarified that it was assigned to the AIADMK based on their specific request. He downplayed the significance of the number of constituencies, stating, "The quantity of seats is not the primary concern; what truly matters is the will and support of the people."

Sharp Criticism of DMK Manifesto

Nagenthran launched a scathing attack on the DMK's election promises. Responding to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's characterization of the previous DMK manifesto as a "hero" and the current one as a "heroine," the BJP president retorted with a pointed critique.

"While the last manifesto may have appeared heroic initially, it ultimately proved to be a complete zero in terms of delivery and implementation," he remarked.

He further quipped that the present manifesto is not a "heroine" but rather suggests the dangerous spread of "heroin"—a metaphor implying the proliferation of drug-related issues across Tamil Nadu under the current administration.

Internal Dissatisfaction Within DMK Alliance

Nagenthran also claimed that Thirumavalavan, a key figure within the DMK alliance, has been expressing growing dissatisfaction with the coalition's dynamics. This observation points to potential internal tensions that could influence the political landscape as election day approaches.

The BJP's strategic moves and vocal criticisms underscore the heightened political competition in Tamil Nadu, with all parties preparing for a fiercely contested electoral battle.
