Shimla: State BJP president Dr Rajeev Bindal on Tuesday released the party's 'Sankalp Patra' for the Solan Municipal Corporation elections, and accused the Congress government of failing to provide basic civic amenities to residents.
BJP's Vision for Solan
Highlighting BJP's vision for Solan, Dr Bindal said the party aims to transform the town into the cleanest, safest and smartest city in Himachal Pradesh. He promised scientific waste management, improved drinking water supply, expansion of sewerage facilities and construction of multilevel parking complexes. He also announced a campaign against drug abuse and assured transparent, digitised and time-bound civic services for residents.
Allegations Against Congress
The BJP leader alleged that despite Congress being in power at the municipal as well as state level, people in Solan continue to face problems related to drinking water, sanitation and parking facilities. He claimed that promises made by Congress during the 2021 Municipal Corporation elections remained unfulfilled. Dr Bindal said Solan residents were receiving irregular and often contaminated water supply, forcing many families to spend heavily on private water tankers while also paying increased water bills. He further alleged that garbage collection charges were increased despite Congress promising free sanitation services, adding that the city's sanitation system had collapsed.
The Sankalp Patra outlines a comprehensive plan to address these issues, with emphasis on infrastructure development and citizen-centric governance. The BJP aims to leverage technology for efficient service delivery and ensure accountability in municipal administration.
