BJP Slams Sukhu Govt: Law & Order Collapse in Himachal Pradesh
BJP targets Sukhu govt over Himachal law and order

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a fierce attack on the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, accusing it of a complete collapse in law and order and announcing a major protest during the upcoming winter session of the legislative assembly.

Protest Plan and Allegations of Governance Failure

Senior BJP leaders, including former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, have declared that the party will gherao the Vidhan Sabha in Dharamshala on December 1. This move is aimed at cornering the government on the issue of deteriorating public safety. The winter session is scheduled to be held from November 26 to December 5 at Tapovan in Dharamshala.

BJP state president Dr Rajiv Bindal stated that the Congress government appears utterly "helpless" even after completing three years in power. In a statement released from Shimla, Dr Bindal criticized the administration for failing to launch any significant public welfare schemes and for consistently blaming the BJP instead of focusing on governance. He specifically highlighted the suffering in the health sector following the closure of the Himcare scheme, which had benefited lakhs of residents.

Shocking Crimes and the Spread of Drug Menace

Addressing a women's rally in Hamirpur, Jai Ram Thakur painted a grim picture of the state's security situation. He cited two brutal incidents in Hamirpur within a single month that have sent shockwaves across the state. In one case, a young man allegedly murdered a woman who was like a mother to him. In another, a youth was accused of killing his own mother. Thakur described these events as reflections of a frightening state of affairs.

He further alleged that the drug menace, once limited to border areas, has now permeated every corner of Himachal. "Unprecedented crimes are being reported, and the mafia is operating freely — even in the Chief Minister’s own district and constituency," Thakur claimed. He asserted that the current government is running on "false guarantees" and has lost control.

Emotional Visit and Demands for Accountability

Demonstrating a personal connect with the issue, Jai Ram Thakur, along with Hamirpur MLA Ashish Sharma and former MLA Rajinder Rana, visited Sasan village to meet the family of the woman killed in the recent juvenile attack. Thakur expressed deep condolences and was visibly emotional upon meeting the woman's differently-abled son, Golu.

He described the moment as "deeply emotional and speechless," emphasizing that the innocent child had lost his sole support in life. Thakur praised local MLA Ashish Sharma for his immediate response; Sharma has committed to providing Rs 3,000 per month for Golu's care and upbringing. Thakur demanded that the state government ensure a thorough inquiry and that the family is fully satisfied with the subsequent action taken.

The BJP's strategy is clear: to mount significant political pressure on the Sukhu government as the assembly session begins, making the alleged breakdown of law and order their central rallying point.
