The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to observe Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas with great fervor across the state of Jharkhand, with significant events planned in Ranchi. The two-day celebration on November 14 and November 15 will commemorate the birth anniversary of the revered tribal icon, Birsa Munda.
Statewide Tributes and Celebrations
Announcing the party's plans, state BJP president Babulal Marandi detailed a series of activities designed to honor tribal heritage. On both days, statues of Birsa Munda and other tribal martyrs and great personalities will be cleaned across the state. The festivities will also feature Deepotsav celebrations.
Furthermore, processions, conferences, and seminars are scheduled to be held in all districts. The culmination of the events will be a large rally organized in Khunti on November 15, which is expected to draw massive participation from members of the tribal community.
NDA's Legacy in Tribal Empowerment
In his address, Marandi highlighted the contributions of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) governments to tribal welfare and the creation of Jharkhand. He reminded the public that it was the NDA government under former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee that cleared the path for the formation of the state of Jharkhand in the year 2000.
He also credited the Vajpayee-led government with establishing a separate tribal ministry at the Centre and including the Santhali language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution. Marandi emphasized that the current Narendra Modi-led NDA government is continuing this legacy by running numerous schemes dedicated to the welfare of tribal society.
Preserving Tribal History and Valor
Marandi provided specific examples of the Modi government's efforts to immortalize tribal heroes. He revealed that the premises and the room where Birsa Munda breathed his last have been developed into a grand museum.
In a significant gesture of recognition, an island in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been named after Shaheed Albert Ekka, another immortal tribal martyr from Jharkhand, ensuring their stories of valor continue to inspire future generations.
