BJP's Nabin Accuses Karnataka Congress of 'Double Game' on Electoral Rolls

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday accused the ruling Congress in Karnataka of playing a 'double game' over the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Nabin alleged that the Congress party suffers from a 'syndrome' of opposing everything the BJP proposes.

BJP's Allegations on Electoral Rolls Revision

Nabin claimed that while the Congress government in Karnataka publicly supports the SIR process, it is secretly working to undermine it. 'The Congress is playing a double game. On one hand, they say they want clean electoral rolls, but on the other, they are trying to stall the revision process to protect their vote bank,' he said.

The BJP president also accused the Congress of creating hurdles in the revision process by not providing adequate resources and cooperation to the election authorities. He demanded that the state government ensure a transparent and fair revision of electoral rolls.

Congress's 'Syndrome' of Opposition

Nabin further remarked that the Congress has developed a 'syndrome' of opposing every initiative of the BJP, even those that are in the public interest. 'Whether it is the Citizenship Amendment Act, the abrogation of Article 370, or the revision of electoral rolls, the Congress opposes everything without any constructive alternative,' he said.

He urged the Congress to rise above partisan politics and cooperate in strengthening the democratic process. 'The revision of electoral rolls is not a political issue; it is about ensuring free and fair elections. The Congress should not play politics with it,' Nabin added.

The special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Karnataka is scheduled to begin next month. The BJP has been demanding a thorough revision to remove duplicate and bogus voters, while the Congress has accused the BJP of trying to manipulate the rolls for electoral gains.
