Body of Missing Bus Driver Recovered After 56 Hours

The body of a missing driver of a private bus carrying labourers that fell off a bridge into the Ramganga canal near the Bidhnu area on Thursday was recovered after 56 hours on Saturday. At the time of the accident, police had stated that the driver had fled.

Family's Reaction and Demands

After receiving the information, the deceased’s son and other family members reached the spot and expressed resentment against the police administration. They demanded an impartial investigation into the matter and adequate compensation.

Police Statement

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ghatampur, Krishnakant Yadav, said the body was identified by the family members as Indrapal Singh, a resident of Hanspur Naubasta.

Accident Details

The private bus plunged into a canal after colliding with a dumper in Kanpur’s Bidhnu area on Thursday morning. All workers suffered injuries and were rescued by locals and police and admitted to a local health facility.

Police said the accident occurred around 8 am when the bus was hit by a speeding dumper and broke through the bridge’s railings before plunging into the Ramganga canal. Since the water level in the canal was low, passengers managed to come out through the windows onto the bus roof to seek help.
