Chandigarh: The youth of the country’s strategic border regions will be targeted for enhanced job training following high-level talks on Saturday to map out development strategies.
High-Level Meeting on Regional Cooperation
Delhi’s lieutenant governor, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, met with Punjab governor and Chandigarh administrator, Gulab Chand Kataria, at Punjab Lok Bhavan to discuss regional cooperation and national development goals. The meeting focused on integrating youth from border areas into specialized skill development programmes to boost employment and foster self-reliance.
Focus on Skill Development for Border Youth
Kataria and Sandhu emphasized that empowering younger generations through targeted vocational training was a key to achieving the central government’s Viksit Bharat@2047 vision to transform India into a fully developed nation. The discussions underscored the importance of equipping youth with industry-relevant skills to enhance their employability and contribute to regional economic growth.
The initiative aims to address the unique challenges faced by border regions, including limited access to quality training and employment opportunities. By prioritizing these areas, the government hopes to create a more inclusive and prosperous future for all citizens.
