Brijendra Singh Demands Strict Action Over Congress MLAs' Cross-Voting in Haryana
Former MP and Congress leader Brijendra Singh has demanded immediate and strict action against party MLAs involved in cross-voting during the recent Rajya Sabha elections in Haryana. He described the incident as a deliberate conspiracy that undermines party discipline and credibility.
Details of the Cross-Voting Incident
Singh emphasized that this was not a simple mistake but a planned act. He stated, "Claiming that votes were wrongly cast due to technical reasons is completely wrong. Out of 37 Congress MLAs, nine votes were found invalid, whereas only one vote went wrong among over 50 MLAs from other parties. This clearly indicates deliberate wrongdoing."
He stressed that such incidents pose a direct challenge to the party's discipline and credibility. "If our own MLAs vote against the party line, it sends a wrong message to workers and the public. Ignoring such incidents could prove damaging for the party," he added.
Call for Firm Action
Singh urged the Congress leadership to act firmly, saying, "Immediate and strict action should be taken against those who cross-voted or deliberately invalidated their votes. This is the time to set an example so that no one thinks of acting against the party in the future. Party discipline cannot be compromised."
He further noted that for Congress to remain a strong and credible political alternative in Haryana, the organization must remain disciplined, united, and accountable.
Sadbhav Yatra Progress
Meanwhile, the Sadbhav Yatra, led by Brijendra Singh, entered its 165th day on Wednesday. The yatra started from Jamalpur village in Tohana constituency under the leadership of Dilshar Singh. Large numbers of villagers turned out to welcome the procession, which proceeded through Polan Wale Kothe, Ankawali, Selampuri, and Kullam villages before concluding in Nanhedi.
This development highlights ongoing political tensions within the Congress party in Haryana, with Singh's demands reflecting concerns over internal unity and electoral integrity ahead of future polls.
