In a significant political move, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has declared that his party will spearhead a widespread people's movement. The agitation aims to secure Telangana's rightful share in the Krishna river waters and address delays in the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS).
Agitation Plans Finalized Against Government Apathy
Addressing the media after a crucial meeting at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad on Sunday, KCR stated that the party will finalize the detailed agitation programs within the next three to four days. The meeting was attended by the party's state executive, legislature party, parliamentary party, and other key leaders.
The former CM asserted that the BRS would not compromise on Telangana's interests, emphasizing that the party was founded solely to protect the state's welfare. He vowed that the party would not rest and would not allow the state government or the Centre to rest on these critical issues.
The agitation will include public meetings in the districts of Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy, and Nalgonda. The objective is to expose the alleged apathy of both the Congress-led state government and the central government by raising public awareness.
Scathing Attack on Congress Government's Policies
KCR launched a fierce critique of the current Congress administration, accusing it of functioning like a "real estate company" solely focused on selling government land. He contrasted this with the BRS tenure, claiming it witnessed a real estate boom where land prices soared, sometimes reaching up to ₹50 lakh per acre, instilling confidence among people and farmers.
He alleged that land rates have crashed since the Congress came to power two years ago, with no buyers in the market. Ridiculing the proposed Bharat Future City project, KCR pointed out that it includes land originally acquired for the Hyderabad Pharma City.
"The BRS government wanted to shift pharma industries outside the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to a dedicated place and identified 20,000 acres. Of this, 14,000 acres were already acquired with the condition that the land would be used only for Pharma City. Now, the Congress government is talking about a Future City, turning it into a real estate venture," he explained.
Doubts on Investments and Critique of Governance
KCR also expressed skepticism about the Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed during the recent Global Investors Summit. He cited the example of investment summits held by the previous Andhra Pradesh government a few years ago, where he claimed only 20% to 30% of deals materialized, with the rest being bogus.
"It appears the present Chief Minister (Revanth Reddy) is adopting the methods of his guru and AP CM Chandrababu Naidu in investments," he remarked. KCR highlighted the industrial policy of his government, under which software exports grew from ₹50,000 crore to ₹2.45 lakh crore.
He accused the Congress of coming to power on false promises and backtracking on all its 420 assurances. KCR claimed that CM Revanth Reddy has only one agenda: 'abusing KCR' in every meeting, including school and college functions. Questioning the government's achievements in two years, he concluded that the state government is rapidly losing credibility, and the public is now realizing it.
