Chandrapur Witnesses Unprecedented Turnout for Police Constable Recruitment

In a remarkable display of enthusiasm for public service, more than 20,000 aspirants have converged at the police ground in Chandrapur district since February 11, all vying for a coveted position among the 215 constable posts available. This large-scale recruitment drive, while extensive in scope, has been meticulously organized with a dual focus on rigorous selection and compassionate candidate care.

Transparency and Safety at the Forefront of Recruitment Process

Senior Police Superintendent Mummakka Sudarshan has emphasized that the recruitment process integrates strict protocols with comprehensive welfare measures. Round-the-clock CCTV surveillance ensures monitoring across the venue, while on-site medical preparedness includes dedicated medical staff and an ambulance stationed at the police ground. This setup allows for swift responses to any health emergencies during the physically demanding tests, underscoring the authorities' commitment to candidate safety.

Demographic Breakdown and Daily Processing Targets

The turnout reflects a diverse applicant pool, comprising over 14,000 male candidates, more than 6,000 females, and two transgender individuals. The schedule commenced with 800 candidates on the first day, and authorities plan to handle nearly 1,500 aspirants daily, as stated by Sudarshan. This structured approach aims to manage the high volume efficiently while maintaining quality standards.

Detailed Security and Verification Protocols

Security arrangements begin as early as 3 am, with entry permitted from 4 am. Each candidate undergoes individual attendance recording, with hall tickets, photographs, and Aadhaar cards verified at the entry point. After verification, candidates are assigned chest numbers before proceeding to height and chest measurements, ensuring a systematic and orderly process.

Physical Tests and Accommodation Support

The physical tests are designed to assess endurance and strength, including:

  • A 100-metre sprint to evaluate speed.
  • A 1,600-metre run to test stamina.
  • A shot put event to measure physical power.

Recognizing the challenges faced by out-of-town aspirants, accommodation facilities have been arranged at the police headquarters for those unable to find lodging in the city, further highlighting the humane approach of the recruitment drive.

Official Appeals for Cooperation and Dignity

Officials have urged candidates to ignore rumours and cooperate fully throughout the process. They emphasize that the recruitment drive not only aims to select capable personnel but also to treat every participant with dignity and care. This holistic approach reinforces the values of fairness and respect in public service recruitment.
