Chennai police seized 400 kilograms of red sandalwood logs from a vehicle in Parry's Corner and arrested three men in connection with a smuggling attempt, sources said on Monday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from the North Beach police station inspected an SUV parked at Fourth Beach Lane in Clive Battery. During the search, officers discovered red sandalwood logs hidden inside the vehicle, the police said.

Arrests Made

Police arrested Anand Antony of Sivaganga district, and Chengiz Khan and Mohammed Azhar, both residents of Mannadi. The seized contraband and the accused were handed over to forest department officials in Teynampet for further action.
