Congress Leader Foresees UDF Wave Sweeping Across Kerala
Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala has declared that a powerful wave in favor of the United Democratic Front (UDF) is sweeping across Kerala, signaling an imminent change in governance. Speaking to reporters in Haripad on Tuesday, Chennithala asserted that the people are prepared to vote against what he termed the misrule of the Left Democratic Front (LDF).
Allegations of Disrespect and Political Decorum Violations
Chennithala criticized the Chief Minister and the Left Front for adopting a disrespectful approach towards candidates and leaders, which he said violates political decorum. He highlighted an incident where the CM referred to senior leader G Sudhakaran as 'chetta,' calling it extremely unfortunate. According to Chennithala, the CPM's fear of Sudhakaran winning with a huge majority in Ambalapuzha is prompting such low-level statements.
Intense Protests Over Anti-Farmer Stance
The Congress leader pointed to intense protests in the highland regions against LDF's anti-farmer policies. He condemned the manifesto's promise to establish a buffer zone along the forest border, describing it as akin to putting a noose around farmers' necks. Chennithala alleged that the government is now making amendments to the manifesto out of fear of public anger. He also mentioned the painful incident of a farmer dying by suicide at the CPI office in Vaikom, stating that the agriculture minister, who he accused of pushing farmers towards suicide, has no right to remain in power.
Criticism of Governance and Corruption
Chennithala dismissed the government's much-touted 'Progress Card' as merely a facade and an attempt to cover corruption. He argued that if people had accepted this, the government would not have lost the last elections. Furthermore, he referenced the amicus curiae report appointed by the court, which confirmed that the 2018 floods were man-made, validating previous stances. Chennithala held the Pinarayi government fully responsible for submerging Kerala through unscientific dam management.
Confidence in Voter Support
Expressing firm belief in the people of Haripad, Chennithala said they know the truth and will always stand with him. He confidently stated that regardless of whether central leaders like Amit Shah or Narendra Modi come, voters will support him. The senior Congress leader predicted he will win the constituency with a huge majority, reinforcing his claim of a sweeping UDF wave across the state.
