New GPCC President Girish Chodankar Vows Congress Majority in Goa Polls
Chodankar: Congress Will Win Majority in Goa Elections

Bicholim: Newly appointed Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president, Girish Chodankar, on Monday expressed confidence that his party will secure a majority of seats in the forthcoming state assembly election. Speaking to reporters after visiting the Shri Dev Rudreshwar Temple at Harvalem, Chodankar stated, "There is anger against the BJP government. People desire change. We will get a simple majority."

Congress Strategy for Upcoming Polls

Chodankar emphasized that the party will only award tickets to candidates who demonstrate unwavering loyalty to the Congress organization. He further noted that the party intends to focus on core issues affecting the state of Goa during its election campaign. The newly appointed GPCC chief also accused the current administration of failing to meet the expectations of the people.

Allegations of Corruption and Middlemen

Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira, who accompanied Chodankar during the temple visit, leveled serious allegations against the state government. Ferreira claimed that Goa is currently under the influence of middlemen, with corruption and scams becoming rampant across the administration. He asserted that people are increasingly unhappy because money appears to have become the primary consideration in governance. "The BJP government has failed to meet people's expectations," Ferreira added.

The Congress leaders' statements come ahead of the Goa assembly elections, where the party is looking to regain ground after being in opposition. The ruling BJP has been in power in Goa since 2012, and the Congress is hoping to capitalize on anti-incumbency sentiment.
