Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi remarked on Monday that individuals who engaged in politics or displayed arrogance in the name of Lord Jagannath faced consequences in elections, alluding to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) defeat in the West Bengal assembly polls and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) coming to power for the first time in the state.
Speaking at an event organized by Shree Jagannath Bhakta Seva Sansthan to honor his efforts in preserving Jagannath culture and promoting Odia identity globally, the Chief Minister praised West Bengal Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari for respecting the sentiments of Odisha's people and the Jagannath Temple servitors. Adhikari had promptly announced the withdrawal of the word 'dham' from the name of a shrine in Digha.
The Chief Minister noted that using the word 'dham' for the newly built temple in Digha had hurt the spiritual sentiments of Odias.
