Congress Leaders Slam Rajasthan Government Over Illegal Mining Crisis in Bharatpur

In a scathing critique, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully on Thursday accused the Bhajan Lal Sharma-led Rajasthan government of failing to curb rampant illegal mining activities in the chief minister's home district of Bharatpur. Jully took to social media platform X to express his concerns, describing the situation as "extremely unfortunate and shameful" for the administration.

Allegations of Government Inaction and Misuse of Power

Jully highlighted that despite clear warnings from former cabinet minister and erstwhile Bharatpur royal family head Vishvendra Singh, no effective action has been taken to address the issue. He alleged that authorities are allowing individuals to use the chief minister's name to amass crores of rupees through illegal means. "Such activities continue unchecked in your own constituency, which raises serious doubts about the government's control over the administration," Jully stated in his post.

The Congress leader urged Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to take concrete and decisive action instead of focusing on symbolic measures that target only minor offenders. His remarks were echoed by former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who also criticized the illegal mining operations in Bharatpur through his social media posts.

Vishvendra Singh's Detailed Revelations

The criticism from Congress functionaries followed two detailed posts by Vishvendra Singh, who exposed the extent of illegal mining in the region. Singh revealed that certain individuals, allegedly operating under the guise of administrative support, are openly engaging in illegal leases and mining operations in the Banshi Paharpur area.

According to Singh, these operations benefit from official backing and exploit legal loopholes to continue their activities. He alleged that a thorough search of the properties involved could uncover crores of rupees accumulated unlawfully. "Will the government take strict action against the powerful, or will it continue to harass the poor and marginalized?" Singh questioned, pointing to a perceived imbalance in law enforcement.

Incident Highlighting Administrative Negligence

Singh recounted a specific incident from early morning, where tractor trolleys loaded with illegally mined materials were discovered near Circuit House Chauraha at 3:30 AM. Despite immediately informing the circle officer and making repeated attempts to contact local police, no response or action was taken. This incident underscores what Singh described as serious negligence on the part of authorities.

He warned that such lapses could escalate into major law and order incidents, citing examples from Deeg and Mewat where criminals continue to operate with impunity while law-abiding citizens face unnecessary police scrutiny. The allegations paint a picture of systemic failure in curbing illegal activities that threaten both the environment and public safety in Bharatpur district.
