Congress MLA Alleges SC Families' Homes Demolished, Sparks Assembly Disruption

In a dramatic session of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly on Thursday, Congress MLA Deendayal Bairwa from Dausa leveled serious allegations against the Dausa tehsildar during the zero hour. Bairwa accused the official of arbitrarily demolishing houses belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) families, demanding immediate action against him.

MLA's Sloganeering and Speaker's Displeasure

After raising the issue, Bairwa moved to the well of the House and began shouting slogans, which prompted a strong reaction from Speaker Vasudev Devnani. The Speaker expressed his displeasure, terming the act a breach of discipline. He instructed Bairwa to return to his seat while assuring the House that appropriate steps would be taken to address the matter.

Heated Exchange Over Point of Order

The proceedings took a tense turn when Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully attempted to raise a point of order. Government chief whip Jogeshwar Garg objected, citing Assembly rules that points of order cannot be raised during Zero Hour. Jully responded by emphasizing that governments change and ruling party members might someday sit in opposition, but the dignity of legislators must be preserved. This led to a sharp exchange between the two, creating a tense atmosphere in the House for some time.

Speaker's Assurance and MLA's Persistent Claims

Following the brief disruption, Speaker Devnani reiterated his instruction for Bairwa to maintain discipline and assured the House that action would be taken against the tehsildar. This helped gradually restore normalcy. Bairwa further alleged that he had raised this issue multiple times, both outside and within the Assembly, but no action had been taken by the government against the tehsildar.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about administrative actions affecting marginalized communities and the procedural tensions within the state legislature.
