Political tensions between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress party over education in Punjab have escalated. Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, a Congress leader, has challenged AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal regarding his assertions that the AAP government’s efforts led to significant improvements in the state’s education sector.
Randhawa counters Kejriwal's claims
Taking to the social media platform X, Randhawa stated that Punjab had already achieved the top rank in the country for school education during the Congress government’s tenure in 2019-20. The former deputy chief minister highlighted that while AAP was in power in Delhi at that time, the national capital lagged behind Punjab in educational performance. He further claimed that Punjab maintained its strong position in the subsequent year, 2021-22.
Advice to rely on facts
Randhawa advised Kejriwal to base his statements on facts rather than political propaganda. He wrote, “Arvind Kejriwal, facts speak, not propaganda.” The exchange underscores the ongoing rivalry between the two parties over credit for educational achievements in Punjab.
