UP Congress President Calls for Transparency and More Posts in Police Recruitment
In Lucknow, the Uttar Pradesh Congress president has formally written a letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, urging greater transparency in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Sub-Inspector (UPSI) recruitment for 2025. The letter also includes a request to increase the number of available posts to better address the state's policing needs.
Concerns Over Recruitment Process and Vacancies
An official spokesperson confirmed that the Congress leader was prompted to write the letter after receiving a detailed representation from candidates. These applicants highlighted significant concerns regarding the recruitment process, which has sparked widespread attention.
The examination is being conducted after a gap of nearly five years, leading to a sharp and substantial rise in the number of applicants. Approximately 10.77 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the test, creating a highly competitive environment.
In his correspondence, the Congress president pointed out that several Sub-Inspector positions within the state police force remain unfilled. He argued that these vacancies could be effectively addressed by increasing the number of posts in the current recruitment cycle.
Comparison with Previous Recruitment and Demands
He noted that during the 2020-21 recruitment drive, a total of 9,534 candidates were successfully selected. However, the number of vacancies announced for this round is significantly lower, which he described as inadequate given the current and growing requirements of the police department.
The candidates themselves have put forward specific demands to enhance transparency. They are calling for the release of detailed scorecards alongside the written examination results. These scorecards should include both normalised and sectional marks to ensure clarity and fairness in the evaluation process.
Additionally, they have suggested the issuance of a waiting list following the final selection. This measure would allow any unfilled posts to be promptly occupied, thereby minimizing delays and ensuring that all available positions are utilized efficiently.
Urgent Appeal for Government Action
The Congress president has strongly urged the government to consider these demands. He emphasized that implementing such measures would not only make the recruitment process more transparent and fairer but also contribute to strengthening law and order across Uttar Pradesh.
By filling the existing vacancies in the police force, the state can enhance its policing capabilities, ensuring better security and public safety. The letter underscores the critical need for a robust and equitable recruitment system that meets the aspirations of lakhs of applicants while addressing the operational needs of the police department.
