The Congress party on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, alleging that MLA Mamman Khan has been falsely implicated in the Nuh riots. The delegation, led by former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, urged the Governor to intervene and ensure a fair investigation.
Allegations of False Implication
The Congress leaders claimed that the case against Mamman Khan is politically motivated and based on fabricated evidence. They argued that the MLA has been targeted to weaken the party in the region. The memorandum highlighted that Khan has no involvement in the riots and that his arrest is an attempt to suppress opposition voices.
Demand for Probe
The Congress demanded a thorough probe into the circumstances leading to Khan's implication. They called for a judicial inquiry or an investigation by a central agency to ensure impartiality. The party also sought the immediate release of the MLA, citing lack of credible evidence.
Governor's Response
The Governor assured the delegation that he would look into the matter and take appropriate action. He acknowledged the concerns raised and promised to convey them to the state government. The Congress leaders expressed hope that justice would prevail.
The Nuh riots, which occurred in July 2023, resulted in several casualties and widespread property damage. Multiple arrests were made, and investigations are ongoing. The Congress maintains that Mamman Khan is innocent and has been made a scapegoat.
