CPI(ML) Urges Grand Alliance Joint Protests in Bihar

CPI(ML) Demands Grand Alliance Coordination for Statewide Protests in Bihar

In a significant political development, CPI(ML) state secretary Kunal has formally appealed to all partners of Bihar's Grand Alliance to organize a joint meeting. The purpose of this meeting would be to coordinate and decide on holding simultaneous protests and demonstrations across the state.

Key Issues Driving the Call for Unity

The proposed joint action focuses on three critical areas where the state government has allegedly failed the people of Bihar. The first major concern is the ongoing LPG crisis, which has caused significant hardship for households. The second issue highlighted is the alleged increase in violence against women, pointing to growing safety concerns. The third grievance involves the recent hike in electricity charges, adding to the financial burden of residents.

Formal Communication and Alliance Structure

Kunal has written formal letters to all Grand Alliance partners, which were personally delivered by two senior CPI(ML) functionaries, K D Yadav and Kamlesh. The five-party Grand Alliance currently comprises the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Indian National Congress, CPI(ML), Communist Party of India (Marxist), and Communist Party of India. Additionally, the India Inclusive Party (IIP), led by I P Gupta, is aligned with this coalition.

Positive Responses from Alliance Partners

Initial reactions from other alliance members have been favorable. State RJD spokesman Chitranjan Gagan confirmed that his party's state president, Mangani Lal Mandal, has received the letter from CPI(ML). Gagan stated, "The proposal will be discussed by our party's other senior leaders to take a formal decision on it," while adding that the proposal appears "good."

Similarly, state Congress spokesman Rajesh Rathorre welcomed the initiative, saying, "The leaders of the grand alliance partners should sit together for a consultative meeting on the proposal and also take a concrete decision on it." He further emphasized that "The joint campaign and protests on the issues raised will be welcomed by the people, and it will also make the government act to solve the problems faced by them."

Strategic Implications for Bihar Politics

This move represents a strategic effort to consolidate opposition voices against the ruling administration. By proposing coordinated protests across multiple issues, CPI(ML) aims to demonstrate unified opposition strength and put pressure on the government to address these pressing concerns. The success of this initiative could significantly impact the political dynamics in Bihar, potentially strengthening the Grand Alliance's position as a cohesive opposition force.
