CPM General Secretary M A Baby Dismisses BJP Alliance Allegations, Points to Congress-BJP Cooperation
In a significant political statement, CPM general secretary M A Baby asserted on Sunday that feedback from all districts across Kerala indicates a favourable political climate for the Left Democratic Front (LDF). Speaking at the AKG Centre in Thiruvananthapuram, Baby clarified that this assessment is not limited to party workers but also includes interactions with individuals outside the Left fold, reflecting broader public sentiment.
Rejecting Allegations of CPM-BJP Understanding
Baby firmly rejected allegations of a tacit understanding between CPM and BJP, labeling the claims as absurd and accusing the Congress of hypocrisy. He highlighted specific instances to counter these accusations, noting that in Thrissur district, particularly in Mathur panchayat, Congress and BJP-backed members are governing together. Baby further alleged that Congress is sharing power in a panchayat with Twenty20, an ally of BJP, undermining their criticism of Left parties.
Criticism of RSS Ideology and Political Developments
Turning to ideological critiques, Baby referenced the writings of M S Golwalkar, a key RSS ideologue, to point out that while minorities like Muslims and Christians are mentioned, communists are uniquely identified as enemies based on their political ideology. He expressed concern over an incident where an RSS leader in Madhya Pradesh publicly offered a monetary reward for harming the chief minister, calling it a serious issue.
Baby also made a veiled reference to political shifts in Thiruvananthapuram, questioning who enabled the victory of a BJP leader in Nemom and who later ensured BJP's defeat. He suggested that the public is well aware of these political maneuvers, implying transparency in LDF's stance.
Emphasizing LDF's Governance Record and Election Narrative
Highlighting the LDF government's performance over the past decade, Baby stated that the primary issue before voters is the governance record of the Left, which he claimed has created history rooted in people's lived experiences. He emphasized that this development-oriented narrative, focusing on tangible achievements, will be central to the upcoming elections, positioning LDF as a party of progress and stability.
Accusations Against Opposition and Broader Political Agenda
Baby accused the opposition of raising baseless allegations to divert attention from development issues. Addressing the recurring claim of a CPM-BJP deal, he termed it a diversionary tactic, noting that even Congress leaders have repeated the charge without evidence. He also referred to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks, alleging that Shah spoke of eliminating various groups, including Maoists, as part of a broader political agenda, which Baby linked to concerns over democratic values.
In summary, M A Baby's statements reinforce LDF's commitment to its governance record while challenging opposition narratives, setting the stage for a heated electoral battle in Kerala.
