Criminal Wanted in ITI Student Killing Arrested in Encounter

Prayagraj: A criminal wanted in connection with the killing of an ITI student was arrested following a police encounter near Durga Canal Road in trans-Ganga late on Monday night, police said. The accused, identified as Sahil Yadav, 22, a resident of Chandenal Ka Pura in Holagarh, was allegedly involved in the shooting death of Himanshu near Todi Ki Purwa Canal Road on Sunday before fleeing the scene.

Police reported that they recovered a country-made pistol of .315 bore, one used and one unused cartridge, and a motorcycle from Yadav's possession. According to law enforcement officials, the victim and the accused had been at loggerheads for the past year following a dispute over a bike collision.

In a separate incident, Pratapgarh police arrested Ram Adhar Tiwari, 55, of Soraon after he was injured in an encounter near Lalganj Road late Monday night. Police recovered a country-made pistol of .315 bore, one live and one used cartridge, Rs 1,160 in cash, and a motorcycle from the spot. As many as 12 criminal cases were pending against Tiwari, who was wanted by Leelapur police in connection with a case under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
