Cyclone Remal Wreaks Havoc: Bengaluru Train Services Disrupted, Multiple Cancellations
Cyclone Remal: Bengaluru Trains Cancelled, Rescheduled

The fury of Cyclone Remal has extended its reach to India's tech capital, causing significant disruptions to Bengaluru's railway network. The South Western Railway (SWR) has been forced to cancel and reschedule numerous train services as heavy rainfall continues to batter the region.

Major Train Cancellations Announced

In response to the adverse weather conditions, South Western Railway has implemented widespread changes to its schedule. The following key services have been affected:

  • Train No. 16591 KSR Bengaluru-Kannur Express scheduled for departure on May 28 has been cancelled
  • Train No. 16592 Kannur-KSR Bengaluru Express for May 29 will not operate
  • Train No. 20641 KSR Bengaluru-Hubballi Vande Bharat Express for May 28 stands cancelled
  • Train No. 20642 Hubballi-KSR Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express for the same date has also been axed

Rescheduled Services Cause Travel Headaches

Beyond outright cancellations, several important trains have been rescheduled, creating ripple effects across the railway network:

  • Train No. 16517 KSR Bengaluru-Mysuru Rajya Rani Express will now depart at 10:15 PM instead of its scheduled 7:15 PM departure on May 28
  • Train No. 11301 Udyan Express faces a three-hour delay, now departing at 11:00 PM
  • Train No. 11302 Udyan Express from Solapur will arrive in Bengaluru significantly later than planned

Cyclone Remal's Widespread Impact

The weather system, which initially made landfall in West Bengal and Bangladesh, has triggered extreme weather conditions across southern India. Bengaluru has experienced persistent heavy rainfall, leading to waterlogging in several areas and making railway operations challenging.

Railway officials have advised passengers to monitor official SWR social media channels and website for real-time updates. Those with confirmed tickets on cancelled trains are eligible for full refunds as per railway regulations.

The meteorological department has predicted continued rainfall over the next 48 hours, suggesting that travel disruptions may persist. Commuters are being urged to plan their journeys carefully and allow extra time for potential delays.
