In an extraordinary display of determination that defied all advice and warnings, 18-year-old Khushi Gupta, a deaf and mute girl from Kanpur, embarked on a solo journey to fulfill her heartfelt desire to meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The young artist, who had been nurturing this dream for quite some time, finally decided to turn her aspiration into reality on November 22, setting in motion a chain of events that would not only fulfill her wish but also secure her future.
The Mysterious Disappearance and Family's Agony
The story began around 9:30 am on November 22 when Khushi's mother, Geeta Gupta, called her daughter for breakfast only to discover she was missing. "We looked in the neighbourhood and at every possible place we could think of, but to no avail," recalled Geeta, who works as a cook in several homes to support her family. After three hours of frantic searching, the family lodged a formal complaint at Gwaltoli police station around 12:30 pm.
Meanwhile, Khushi had independently reached Lucknow and found herself sitting near one of the gates of Lok Bhawan in Hazratganj, clutching her precious sketchbook close to her chest. It was here that her fortunes changed when Inspector Vikram Singh, during a routine patrol, noticed the distressed girl and decided to investigate.
The Turning Point: From Missing Person to Dream Fulfillment
Inspector Singh checked the police database and found a missing complaint matching Khushi's description. "Around 4:45 pm, I got a call from police personnel who told me that my daughter reached Lucknow and was safe," Geeta recounted, describing the moment as divine intervention that rewarded her good deeds.
The family reached Hazratganj police station at 9:30 pm the same day and, after completing necessary paperwork, returned to Kanpur. But the story was far from over. When Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath learned about Khushi's extraordinary journey and her desire to meet him, he immediately directed officials to arrange a meeting.
"Khushi's dream came true today. She is very fond of 'Baba'. She gets very happy whenever she sees him on TV. We cannot understand what she feels as she cannot speak but her connection with 'Baba' is clear," her mother explained, highlighting the special bond the young girl felt with the CM.
Beyond Symbolism: Concrete Steps for a Brighter Future
The meeting between Khushi and the Chief Minister on Wednesday morning proved transformative. Khushi presented the CM with a handmade portrait she had created, receiving his blessings in return. CM Yogi Adityanath was deeply impressed by her artistic talent but concerned to learn she had never attended school.
In a heartwarming response that went beyond mere symbolism, the Chief Minister took concrete steps to support Khushi's future. Aarti Jaiswal, the district youth welfare officer tasked with bringing Khushi from Kanpur for the meeting, revealed: "The CM directed officials concerned to arrange for her admission to school for special children. He also presented her with a smartphone and a tablet to start learning."
An official spokesperson later confirmed that the CM had issued orders for Khushi's education and directed officials to arrange a medical assessment to determine if hearing aids could potentially help her. This comprehensive approach ensures that Khushi's courageous journey will lead to lasting positive changes in her life, proving that sometimes listening to your heart against all odds can indeed create miracles.
