Delivery agent dies in Mumbai road accident

A 24-year-old food delivery agent lost his life in a tragic road accident on the Western Express Highway in Mumbai during the early hours of Thursday. According to police, the victim was knocked down by a speeding auto rickshaw and subsequently run over by a truck. Both drivers fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Victim identified

The deceased has been identified as Akhilesh Chowdhary Kamat, a resident of Mumbai Central who was staying with his cousin. He was on his way to deliver a food order when the accident occurred. Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Rescue efforts

Locals rushed the injured delivery agent to VN Desai Hospital, where he was declared dead before admission. His family members have been informed about the accident, an official said.

Police are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicles involved in the accident. Further investigation is ongoing to trace the absconding drivers.
