In a significant enforcement action targeting illicit fuel operations, authorities in Deoria district executed a surprise raid on Friday at a petrol pump located near Sonughat along the Deoria–Salempur road. During the inspection, officials observed a tractor-trolley parked within the premises, equipped with two large drums that were actively being filled with diesel.
Upon suspicion, the team questioned two individuals present at the scene: Firoz Ahmad and Govind Gupta, both residents of Chakrawa Dhoos village. However, they were unable to produce any legitimate documents authorizing the purchase or transport of the fuel. Further investigation revealed that the petrol pump staff had supplied the diesel without recording essential details such as the buyers' names, addresses, or vehicle registration numbers. Notably, no receipt was issued for this transaction, highlighting a clear breach of regulatory protocols.

District Supply Officer Sanjay Kumar Pandey emphasized the gravity of the violation, stating, "Strict action was taken after 400 litres of diesel being filled illegally into drums was seized during the raid. An FIR was lodged against the pump operator."
