Business Community Stages Massive Protest in Dhanbad
Members of Dhanbad's business community, supported by BJP lawmakers, organized a significant dharna on Monday to protest the brutal attack on a local trader at Krishi Bazar in Barwa Adda area. The demonstration highlighted growing concerns about safety and security for business owners in the region.
Violent Attack on Trader Shakes Business Community
The protest was triggered by a shocking incident that occurred on Sunday night when trader Shyam Bhimsariya was attacked by three unidentified assailants while returning home after closing his shop. The criminals employed a particularly brutal method, throwing chilli powder into his eyes before assaulting him with a metal object.
In a brazen display of criminal activity, the attackers looted a bag containing approximately ₹4 lakh and even fired shots before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, Bhimsariya narrowly escaped bullet injuries but sustained significant harm from the assault. He was subsequently admitted to a private hospital for treatment.
Political Support and Police Response
The demonstration organized by Krishi Bazar Samiti traders saw strong political support with Dhanbad MP Dulu Mahto and Jharia MLA Ragini Singh participating actively. Both lawmakers extended their full support to the trading community and expressed serious concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation.
MLA Ragini Singh termed the incident as "unfortunate and alarming" and stated that "such incidents expose the deteriorating law and order situation in Dhanbad." Meanwhile, MP Dulu Mahto launched a scathing attack on the administration, accusing them of shielding criminals instead of protecting honest citizens.
"The Jharkhand government has become a government of criminals. There is no safety and security for common people in this state," Mahto declared during the protest.
Police Investigation and Public Demands
Senior police officials, including City SP Ritvik Srivastava, visited the crime spot and assured strict action against the perpetrators. Police have launched an extensive search operation and are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the culprits.
Shankar Kamti, DSP (HQ-1), confirmed that "all CCTV footages are being scanned and the modus operandi of the crime is being examined to identify the criminals."
Hundreds of traders gathered at Krishi Bazar on Monday, raising slogans against the district administration and demanding immediate arrest of the assailants within 48 hours. The business community has put forth several key demands:
- Immediate arrest of all involved criminals within 48 hours
- Enhanced security measures for business establishments
- Regular police patrolling in market areas
- Swift action against rising criminal activities
The incident has sparked widespread concern among the business community, with many expressing fears about their safety while conducting daily business operations. The protest underscores the urgent need for improved security measures in commercial areas of Dhanbad.
