TTV Dhinakaran: AMMK Alliance Decision Pending, Awaiting Cadre Sentiment
Dhinakaran: No AMMK alliance decision yet, talks on

In a significant political update from Trichy, AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran stated on Sunday that his party has not yet arrived at a final decision regarding an electoral alliance for the upcoming polls. He emphasized that any future move would be heavily influenced by the sentiments of the party's grassroots cadres.

Alliance Talks Underway, But Decision Awaited

Dhinakaran was responding to questions about AMMK supporters actively posting content online that showed support for Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay. Addressing reporters, the leader revealed that several political parties are currently in discussions with the AMMK. These include both parties leading existing alliances and those attempting to form new coalitions.

"However, no decision has been taken so far," Dhinakaran asserted. He laid out the party's primary condition, stating, "We will form an alliance that ensures victory." He further added that the AMMK is closely monitoring the national political landscape as well as evaluating the strength and seat-sharing dynamics within the ruling DMK-led alliance.

On Sengottaiyan's Shift and AIADMK Unity

When questioned about former AIADMK minister K A Sengottaiyan joining the TVK, Dhinakaran shared his historical perspective. He mentioned knowing Sengottaiyan since 1987 and acknowledged him as a loyalist of the late leaders MGR and Jayalalithaa. Dhinakaran opined that Sengottaiyan, after being sidelined within the AIADMK, has found recognition in TVK, a party that is currently gaining considerable public attention.

Reiterating a long-standing personal view, Dhinakaran stated that the AIADMK could secure victory only if all its fractured factions unite. He clarified that this should not be interpreted as a change in his stance or a result of external pressure. "Any party must approach us with love and respect," he firmly added.

Dismissing Rumors and Addressing Policy

The AMMK leader outright dismissed recent speculation about seat-sharing talks occurring during Union Minister Piyush Goyal's visit to the state, labeling them as mere rumors. Shifting focus to governance, Dhinakaran welcomed the central government's decision to increase the number of workdays under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) to 125. However, he urged the Centre to reconsider its directive asking states to bear 40% of the cost, suggesting it places a financial burden on state governments.

Concluding with an air of anticipation regarding his party's political direction, Dhinakaran gave a cryptic response to queries about a possible tilt towards the DMK. "Wait and see where our perspective leans," he said, leaving the political arena guessing about the AMMK's next strategic move.
