Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has articulated a comprehensive vision for the state's development by 2026, with a primary focus on empowering women, farmers, and the youth. Speaking at a recent event, Shivakumar emphasized the need for inclusive growth and outlined several key initiatives aimed at transforming Karnataka into a model state.
Key Priorities for Karnataka 2026
Shivakumar's vision encompasses a multi-pronged approach addressing critical sectors. For women, the government plans to introduce financial assistance schemes and skill development programs to enhance economic independence. Farmers will benefit from improved irrigation facilities, better access to credit, and enhanced market linkages. The youth, meanwhile, will see increased investment in education, vocational training, and job creation.
Women Empowerment Initiatives
The Deputy CM highlighted the importance of women-led development. Proposed measures include direct benefit transfers, micro-loan schemes for women entrepreneurs, and dedicated health and safety programs. The government aims to increase women's participation in the workforce through targeted policies.
Farmer Welfare Programs
For the agricultural sector, Shivakumar stressed the need for sustainable farming practices. Plans include expanding the Kisan Credit Card scheme, promoting organic farming, and establishing more cold storage facilities to reduce post-harvest losses. Youth Development and Employment
To address unemployment, the vision includes setting up new industrial corridors, boosting the startup ecosystem, and enhancing IT infrastructure. Scholarships for higher education and skill development centers will be expanded to equip the youth with 21st-century skills.
Shivakumar also called for unity among all sections of society to achieve these goals. He reiterated the Congress party's commitment to pro-people policies and promised transparent governance.
