DMK MLA Balaji Hails Tamil Nadu as Number One State

Coimbatore: DMK MLA V Senthil Balaji on Saturday asserted that Tamil Nadu is the number one state in India and called on the public to wait and observe the performance of the newly formed government. Balaji visited Kottaimedu in the Coimbatore South constituency to express gratitude to voters for his electoral victory.

Commitment to Fulfilling Promises

Speaking to reporters, Balaji stated that the DMK and its allies are working cohesively through their administrators to deliver on the promises made to the people. He emphasized, "We will continue to work hard for a complete victory in the future." When questioned about the vertical split within the AIADMK, with one faction supporting the ruling party, Balaji noted that MLAs and party leaders had already voiced their opinions on the matter.

Confidence Vote and Social Media

Balaji recalled that during the confidence vote, the leader of the opposition and the DMK youth wing had enumerated the commitments made by the new government during the election campaign and urged their swift implementation within a fixed timeframe. Addressing opinions circulating on social media, he advised people to wait and see how the new government delivers welfare schemes. He remarked that media and social media platforms were creating an impression that Tasmac outlets were being reduced and that total prohibition was being introduced for the first time simply because a new government had assumed office. Balaji clarified that 500 Tasmac shops were closed during the previous DMK regime on the chief minister's orders, and that liquor shops were also reduced during the earlier AIADMK government.

Tamil Nadu's Achievements

Responding to a question about whether people expected a real change in this election, Balaji highlighted Tamil Nadu's accomplishments, noting that the state ranks first in India in higher education enrolment, healthcare, and industrial growth, and has recorded double-digit economic growth. He pointed out that the new government had not made explicit pre-election promises regarding policy changes. "Merely preserving the achievements of DMK president, who had earlier led Tamil Nadu on a development path as chief minister, will itself be sufficient for the new government," he stated.

No Political Talks with Velumani

Balaji confirmed that there have been no political discussions with SP Velumani and that there is no necessity to engage in any political talks with him.
