In a pioneering move for Indian politics, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Saturday unveiled a digital platform designed to democratize the creation of an election manifesto. The portal, powered by artificial intelligence, invites the public to submit their suggestions, which will directly shape the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party's agenda for the upcoming state assembly election.
A Digital Gateway for Democratic Input
The newly launched website, accessible at tnmanifesto.ai, marks a significant shift from traditional, closed-door manifesto drafting processes. Developed by industrialist and manifesto committee member Suresh Sambandam, the platform is engineered to consolidate inputs from citizens across multiple channels. Unlike conventional methods, the AI system will analyze and convert these public suggestions into organized, sector-wise policy pointers. This technological approach is expected to enable the manifesto committee to process and analyze citizen feedback with unprecedented speed and efficiency.
Commitment to a 'People's Manifesto'
Leading the initiative, DMK deputy general secretary Kanimozhi, who heads the manifesto committee, emphasized the party's commitment to a bottom-up approach. She stated that the DMK is determined to present a "people's manifesto" that is both practical and implementable, reflecting the genuine needs and aspirations of Tamil Nadu's citizens. The move underscores the party's strategy to ground its electoral promises in direct public consultation.
Echoing the sentiment of innovation, Industries Minister T R B Raajaa made a bold claim, asserting that the DMK is the first political party in the world to leverage artificial intelligence in the preparation of an election manifesto. This positions the party at the forefront of technological adoption in democratic processes.
Blending Technology with Grassroots Outreach
While the AI portal represents the digital arm of the consultation, the DMK is complementing it with traditional grassroots engagement. Another manifesto committee member, MP M M Abdulla, announced that the party will also conduct a series of region-wise public meetings to gather input. The first of these meetings is scheduled to be held in Hosur on January 9, ensuring that the process remains inclusive and reaches citizens across the state's diverse regions.
