AIADMK Leader Accuses DMK of Plagiarizing 'Illatharasi' Scheme from Their Election Manifesto
In a sharp political critique, R B Udhayakumar, the deputy leader of the opposition from AIADMK, has strongly condemned the announcement made in the DMK election manifesto regarding a scheme named 'Illatharasi.' Udhayakumar asserted that the DMK has blatantly copied this idea from the AIADMK's own election manifesto. Under the DMK's proposed scheme, a coupon worth Rs 8,000 is promised to households that are not subject to income tax, intended for purchasing new or exchanging old household items.
Udhayakumar's Campaign and Allegations in Thirumangalam
Udhayakumar, who is the MLA for Thirumangalam, officially filed his nomination papers for the same constituency on Monday, marking the commencement of his vigorous election campaign. On Tuesday, he actively campaigned in the villages of Maithanpatti and Servaikaranpatti, engaging with local communities to bolster support.
Addressing a gathering during his campaign, Udhayakumar launched a direct attack on Chief Minister M K Stalin, accusing him of replicating AIADMK's election promises. He highlighted that the DMK's announcement of the Rs 8,000 coupon scheme came only after AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami had already declared a one-time family relief of Rs 10,000 in their manifesto to mitigate the effects of rising prices.
"Why did the DMK government not introduce such a beneficial scheme over the past five years?" Udhayakumar questioned, emphasizing the timing of the announcement. He confidently stated, "No matter how many announcements the DMK makes, it cannot return to power."
Promises and Predictions for Thirumangalam and Beyond
Listing various developmental projects that the AIADMK has implemented in the Thirumangalam constituency, Udhayakumar provided assurances to the electorate. He pledged that necessary steps would be taken to execute the Madurai metro rail project, specifically extending from Thirumangalam to Madurai, showcasing his commitment to infrastructure development.
In his appeal to voters, Udhayakumar remarked, "During elections, some political parties come offering gifts and schemes. However, the voters should reciprocate by giving the ultimate gift of victory by casting their votes for the 'Two Leaves' symbol of AIADMK." He predicted a decisive outcome, forecasting that the DMK will face defeat in this election, while the AIADMK will emerge triumphant.
Furthermore, Udhayakumar expressed strong confidence in AIADMK's prospects in the Thirumangalam constituency, predicting a victory margin of 50,000 votes. This assertion underscores the intense political rivalry and high stakes involved in the upcoming electoral battle.
