AIADMK's EPS Rules Out Sasikala's Entry, Hints at More Allies Joining Opposition Front
EPS Rules Out Sasikala, Seeks More Allies in AIADMK-BJP Alliance

AIADMK Leader EPS Confirms Alliance Stability, Excludes Sasikala from NDA

In a significant political development, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) has firmly ruled out the induction of expelled party leader V K Sasikala into the AIADMK-BJP alliance. Speaking to reporters at New Delhi airport on Tuesday, EPS emphasized that the topic of Sasikala joining the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) did not arise during his late-night meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday.

Alliance Coordination and Election Preparedness Discussed

EPS highlighted that his discussion with Shah focused primarily on election preparedness and enhancing coordination between the allies. He contrasted this with the DMK-Congress alliance, which he described as being mired in confusion. "There is no confusion. As far as our alliance is concerned, everything is smooth. It is a vibrant alliance," EPS asserted, underscoring the stability within the AIADMK-led front.

He revealed that formal seat-sharing talks within the AIADMK alliance are set to commence shortly. However, sources within the AIADMK indicate that these discussions may address contentious seats where the BJP and AIADMK have conflicting interests. The BJP is keen on contesting in seats it deems favorable, while the AIADMK is hesitant to relinquish some of its traditional strongholds.

EPS Dismisses Speculation and Plans Campaign Trail

When questioned about his solo trip to Delhi without senior lieutenants S P Velumani and P Thangamani, EPS avoided a direct response, simply stating, "After the PM's public meeting in Madurai on Sunday, I returned to Chennai, from where I flew to Delhi." He also reiterated the AIADMK's confidence in the upcoming elections, predicting that the alliance would secure more seats and the AIADMK would form its own government.

In a positive note for the opposition front, EPS mentioned that the AIADMK is in touch with several other parties, and some of them are likely to join the alliance soon. This hints at a potential expansion of the coalition, bolstering its strength ahead of the polls.

Meanwhile, the AIADMK has announced that EPS will campaign in Anthiyur, Perunthurai, and Bhavani constituencies in Erode district on March 7 and 8 as part of his election campaign, titled ‘Makkalai Kappom, Thamizhagathai Meetpom’. This move is aimed at galvanizing support and reinforcing the party's grassroots connect in key regions.

Global Context: Israel-Iran Tensions Unrelated

It is important to note that while global events such as the Israel-Iran conflict and US military operations like 'Operation Epic Fury' are making headlines, EPS's statements are solely focused on domestic Tamil Nadu politics and the AIADMK-BJP alliance dynamics. These international developments do not impact the local political narrative discussed by EPS.

Overall, EPS's remarks clarify the AIADMK's stance on alliance integrity, exclude any role for V K Sasikala, and signal a proactive approach to broadening the opposition coalition, setting the stage for intense electoral battles in Tamil Nadu.
