A tragic incident unfolded in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, where a family dispute led to the deaths of a couple. The body of 35-year-old Neha Singh was discovered in a decomposed state inside her rented accommodation in New Kanchanpur on Friday evening. Neighbors alerted the Adhartal police after noticing a foul smell emanating from the house. Preliminary investigations suggest that Neha had died approximately three days earlier.
Background of the Incident
Neha Singh, who had been working in Indore for the past year, returned to Jabalpur on May 28. She lived with her second husband, Mayank Singh, and their eight-year-old son. According to police reports, the couple had a heated argument on Wednesday night, after which Neha was not seen again. The following Friday morning, Mayank dropped their son at his sister's house and disappeared. Later that day, he allegedly attempted suicide in the Ranjhi area but fled after locals intervened.
Discovery of Mayank's Body
On Saturday morning, Mayank's body was found hanging inside a vacant VFJ residential quarter. A suicide note recovered from the scene reportedly stated that he held himself responsible for his wife's death and mentioned harassment by his mother-in-law and sister-in-law. The couple's young son told police that during the argument, his father had threatened Neha with a knife, after which she allegedly said she would hang herself and went into another room.
Investigation and Findings
Police stated that the preliminary post-mortem report indicated Neha's death was due to hanging. Investigators suspect that Mayank later died by suicide due to guilt over the incident. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway. Authorities are also looking into the allegations of harassment mentioned in the suicide note.
This tragic event highlights the consequences of domestic disputes and the importance of seeking help during conflicts. The police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
