National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday made a strong appeal to Pakistan, calling for an end to the ongoing cycle of violence in Jammu and Kashmir. 'Enough is enough,' he declared, emphasizing that the bloodshed must stop immediately.
Pain Beyond Families
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Abdullah highlighted that the grief caused by the violence is not confined to the families who have lost their loved ones. 'The pain is felt by every person in Jammu and Kashmir,' he said. 'We cannot continue to see our land drenched in blood.'
Call for Peace
The veteran politician urged Pakistan to take concrete steps to cease supporting militant activities in the region. He stressed that dialogue and peace are the only viable paths forward, warning that continued violence only deepens the wounds of the people.
Abdullah's remarks come amid a fresh wave of unrest in the Kashmir Valley, where several encounters between security forces and militants have resulted in casualties. The National Conference leader reiterated his party's commitment to a peaceful resolution, but made it clear that the time for action is now.
'We have seen enough suffering. It is time for Pakistan to realize that violence will not achieve anything. The people of Jammu and Kashmir want peace, development, and a future free from fear,' Abdullah added.
The statement has drawn mixed reactions, with some political analysts viewing it as a significant shift in rhetoric from the Abdullah family, which has historically advocated for dialogue with Pakistan. However, others note that the call for an end to violence aligns with the broader sentiment of the region's populace, which has borne the brunt of decades of conflict.
