Tragic Accident in Bhilwara Claims Lives of Father and Son
A devastating road accident on the Gulabpura–Devli highway near Rajiyas village in Bhilwara's Shahpura area has resulted in the deaths of a father and son, with three others sustaining serious injuries. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening amid rainy conditions, when the victims' Scorpio vehicle overturned while attempting to avoid a herd of buffaloes that suddenly strayed onto the highway.
Details of the Fatal Crash
According to Shahpura ASP Rajesh Arya, five men from Diggi Malpura in Tonk district were traveling to attend a social function at Genhuli village in Kotdi when the tragedy unfolded. As they approached Rajiyawas village under the Phuliyakala police station limits, a group of buffaloes unexpectedly entered the highway. The driver, in a desperate effort to evade the animals, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn violently.
The deceased have been identified as Kajod Singh, son of Kalu Singh, and Ajay Singh, father of Kajod Singh. Both individuals succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the accident. The injured victims—Shankar Singh, Vijay Singh, and Phoolchand—were rushed to Shahpura hospital for urgent medical treatment, where they are currently receiving care for their serious wounds.
Rescue Efforts and Subsequent Fire
Following the crash, the situation escalated as the Scorpio's doors jammed, trapping the occupants inside. Local residents swiftly intervened, utilizing a JCB machine to pry open the vehicle and rescue those trapped. However, in a further twist of misfortune, the Scorpio caught fire shortly after the rescue operation, burning completely and reducing the vehicle to ashes.
The bodies of the deceased have been placed in the mortuary at Shahpura hospital. Authorities have stated that post-mortem examinations will be conducted on Thursday, pending the arrival of relatives to complete necessary formalities.
Broader Implications and Safety Concerns
This incident highlights critical road safety issues in rural areas, particularly the dangers posed by stray animals on highways. The combination of adverse weather conditions and unexpected obstacles underscores the need for heightened vigilance among drivers. Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the crash, while community members mourn the loss of the two individuals and pray for the recovery of the injured.
Such accidents serve as a stark reminder of the unpredictable hazards on Indian roads, urging both authorities and citizens to prioritize safety measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
