Bokaro: A wave of grief swept through Gomia on Wednesday following the death of Madhav Lal Singh, a four-time MLA and former minister, who succumbed during treatment at a private hospital in Ranchi.
Political Career and Contributions
Singh served as a member of the unified Bihar state assembly in 1985 and 1990. He later won the seat in 2000 and 2009 to become a member of the Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha. He also held a ministerial position in the cabinet of former Chief Minister Arjun Munda. Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha confirmed that the government has approved full state honors for his funeral.

Soren stated that his death is an irreparable loss to public life and offered prayers: 'May Marang Buru grant peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family.'
Widely known as Madhav Babu, Singh was admired for his simplicity, grassroots connect, and strong influence in rural politics. He was admitted to a hospital in Bokaro about a week ago after a sudden deterioration in his health. As his condition worsened, he was transferred to Pulse Hospital in Ranchi two days ago, where he breathed his last.

The news triggered mourning in Gomia and other parts of the state. Supporters, residents, and political workers gathered at his residence and the hospital in shock. Thousands joined the funeral procession in the area to pay their respects. His last rites are scheduled to be performed on Thursday.
