Former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot Accuses PM Modi of Breaking Key Election Pledge
In a significant political development, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday launched a scathing attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of failing to honor a crucial election promise regarding the continuation of welfare schemes initiated during the previous Congress government in the state.
Allegations of Broken Promises and Political Vendetta
Gehlot claimed that Prime Minister Modi had explicitly assured voters during election campaigns that no welfare scheme from the Congress era would be discontinued if the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in Rajasthan. "The promise was made strategically to secure votes, but it was never implemented on the ground," Gehlot asserted during his address.
The former chief minister made these allegations in the 20th chapter of his ongoing social media series titled "Intezaar Shastra" (The Art of Waiting), where he documented what he described as systematic failures of the current BJP-led state administration.
'Modi Ki Guarantee' Labeled as 'Electoral Jumla'
Gehlot went further to characterize the Prime Minister's assurance as nothing more than political rhetoric. "'Modi Ki Guarantee' has ultimately turned out to be an electoral jumla (empty slogan)," he stated emphatically. "Nineteen previous chapters of Intezaar Shastra serve as evidence that this promise was essentially deception from the very beginning."
According to Gehlot, the BJP-led state government has actively worked against the Prime Minister's public assurance through what he termed a "well-planned conspiracy" driven by political vendetta. He alleged that numerous welfare programs established during the Congress regime are being deliberately neglected, discontinued, or significantly weakened.
Specific Allegations Against Current Administration
The former chief minister detailed several areas where he claimed the current government has failed the people of Rajasthan:
- Several projects initiated during his tenure remain incomplete and stalled
- Pension disbursements to eligible beneficiaries have been disrupted
- Access to medical treatment has become increasingly difficult
- Visible distress is spreading across various sections of society
"People across the state are facing genuine hardships," Gehlot emphasized. "They are not receiving their entitled pensions, adequate medical treatment is unavailable, and the overall distress is palpable throughout Rajasthan."
Criticism of Current State Leadership
Gehlot also directed criticism toward the current state leadership, alleging a severe lack of governance and administrative oversight. "The Chief Minister appears preoccupied with tours and public appearances," he remarked. "When will he actually dedicate time to substantive work and properly assess his own government's performance?"
The former chief minister warned that ignoring public concerns could lead to significant political consequences. "The ground reality in Rajasthan is completely different from what is being portrayed officially," Gehlot cautioned. "Continuous neglect of people's welfare needs will inevitably result in political repercussions."
Consistent Campaign Through Social Media Series
Gehlot revealed that he has been consistently raising these issues through his ongoing social media campaign. The "Intezaar Shastra" series, now in its 20th chapter, serves as his platform to document what he perceives as governance failures and broken promises by the current administration.
The former chief minister's allegations come at a politically sensitive time and highlight the ongoing tensions between the Congress and BJP in Rajasthan. His detailed accusations regarding welfare scheme discontinuation represent a significant escalation in political rhetoric against both the state and central governments.
Gehlot concluded by reiterating his commitment to holding the government accountable for what he described as systematic failures in implementing welfare measures and honoring electoral commitments made to the people of Rajasthan.
