South Goa Member of Parliament Captain Viriato Fernandes (retired) has strongly criticized what he describes as deliberate attempts to minimize the severity of the water contamination crisis at the Prabhu Violetta residential colony in Dabolim. The MP has called for an immediate and independent investigation into alleged administrative failures and potential financial connections between government officials and the real estate developer responsible for the project.

Fernandes expressed deep concern over what he perceives as a systematic effort by certain officials to shield the property builder from accountability. "Attempts are being made by officials to protect the property builder," Fernandes stated unequivocally. He emphasized that this protection has come at the direct expense of resident welfare, adding, "The health of residents has been completely ignored in this process."
The retired captain turned politician highlighted the apparent contradiction in governmental rhetoric versus action. "Government officials are involved. Action should have been taken, but nothing has been done," he asserted. Fernandes pointedly referenced the common political slogan "sarkar tumchya daari" (government at your doorstep), contrasting it with the current reality where "authorities are calling them to their offices" instead of addressing the crisis proactively at the colony site.
