Ludhiana: Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Saturday emphasized the need to adopt the ideology of Satguru Ram Singh to make Punjab a drug-free state. In a statement issued here, during his first visit to Sri Bhaini Sahib, the governor paid obeisance and addressed a Gurmat Samagam.
Governor's Address at Sri Bhaini Sahib
He said that the roots of India's freedom struggle were laid by Satguru Ram Singh Ji, who initiated a movement of non-cooperation against British rule and provided religious, social and political direction to society. Describing the Namdhari sect as a symbol of simplicity, truthfulness and humility, the governor urged people to follow the path shown by the Gurus to achieve spiritual and social upliftment.
Call for a Drug-Free Punjab
The governor stressed that adopting the teachings of Satguru Ram Singh can play a pivotal role in eradicating the drug menace from the state. He highlighted that the principles of honesty, hard work, and devotion can guide the youth away from substance abuse and towards a healthier lifestyle.
Significance of the Visit
This was Governor Kataria's first visit to Sri Bhaini Sahib, the historic seat of the Namdhari sect. During the Gurmat Samagam, he interacted with religious leaders and community members, reiterating the importance of spiritual guidance in addressing contemporary social issues.
The governor also praised the contributions of the Namdhari community in the fields of education, healthcare, and social reform, urging others to emulate their example. He called for collective efforts from all sections of society to realize the vision of a drug-free and prosperous Punjab.
