Former Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda has accused the Karnataka state government of misleading beneficiaries of guarantee schemes to cover up its bankruptcy. Speaking to reporters in Gadag on Sunday, Gowda criticized the government's approach to managing the schemes.
Simple Procedure Ignored
Gowda highlighted that if a beneficiary's death certificate is uploaded on the website, the benefits would automatically stop for the deceased person. He noted that Tahsildars could provide a list of eligible beneficiaries. Instead of following this simple procedure, the government is taking a detour, which Gowda claims is intended to deceive beneficiaries.
Historical Pattern of Deception
He lamented that whenever the Congress party faces administrative failure, it drops beneficiaries under the guise of reshaping schemes. This, he said, has become a habit. Gowda further alleged that Congressmen are experts in looting public money, collecting funds in the name of deceased persons or even unborn individuals. He asserted that there is no need to conduct a resurvey in this digital era, as the current financial crisis is forcing the government to make people reapply.
Gowda's remarks come amid ongoing debates over the implementation of guarantee schemes and the state's fiscal health. He urged the government to adopt transparent and efficient methods to ensure benefits reach the rightful beneficiaries.
