In a candid revelation, Gujarat Legislative Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary stated that a mere two percent of the Anjana Chaudhari community is in a position of complete financial strength. He called upon this affluent section to take responsibility for the upliftment of the remaining members of their community.
A Call for Community Upliftment at Groundbreaking Ceremony
Chaudhary made these remarks while addressing a gathering on Sunday in Jamiyatpura village, Gandhinagar district. The occasion was the groundbreaking ceremony for the ambitious Vishva Anjana Dham, a massive community centre initiative for the Anjana-Chaudhari group. The speaker, who also chairs the prominent Banas Dairy, emphasized that the onus of development rests on the shoulders of the financially capable minority within the community.
The Anjana Chaudhari community is classified among the Other Backward Classes (OBC) in Gujarat. Traditionally, their primary occupations have been animal husbandry and agriculture. Chaudhary's comments highlight the economic disparities within the group and underscore a push for internal solidarity and progress.
Vishva Anjana Dham: A Rs 300 Crore Beacon for Education and Sports
The Vishva Anjana Dham project itself is a testament to the community's aspirations. With an estimated cost exceeding Rs 300 crore, the centre is poised to become a hub for education and holistic development. It will be constructed on a vast 6.50 lakh square feet plot of land.
The facilities planned are extensive and modern. The centre will feature an educational complex capable of serving more than 2,500 students. A key component is a spacious hostel with 572 rooms, all equipped with contemporary amenities to support students from distant areas.
Beyond academics, the Dham has a strong focus on sports and physical well-being. It will include training facilities for a variety of sports such as:
- Football
- Badminton
- Volleyball
- Basketball
The long-term vision is to nurture talent from the community to compete at the highest levels, including the Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Games.
Focus on Ethics and Health
In his address, Speaker Shankar Chaudhary also stressed the importance of ethics and good health for the community's advancement. He advocated for a lifestyle that maintains these values while strictly staying away from any form of addiction. This holistic approach indicates that the project aims for comprehensive social development, not just infrastructural growth.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Gyan Vatsal Swami from the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) and Gagji Sutariya from Sardar Dham, a Patidar organisation, showcasing cross-community support for the initiative.
The Vishva Anjana Dham project, fueled by the community's own initiative and highlighted by its leaders' frank assessment of internal challenges, marks a significant step towards self-driven development for the Anjana Chaudhari community in Gujarat.
