Haryana Chief Minister Inaugurates Major Development Projects in Meham, Rohtak
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth crores of rupees in the Meham area of Rohtak district on Sunday. The event took place during a BJP 'Vikas Rally' aimed at showcasing the government's infrastructure initiatives.
Project Details and Financial Outlay
During the rally, Saini inaugurated two projects with a combined value of Rs 231.25 lakh. Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for irrigation department projects worth Rs 118.84 crore and public health engineering department projects worth Rs 80.88 crore. This significant investment underscores the state government's focus on enhancing local infrastructure and public services.
Political Leadership and Attendance
The rally was presided over by outgoing Rajya Sabha MP Ramchander Jangra, with ministers Krishan Lal Panwar, Arvind Sharma, and Ranbir Gangwa also in attendance. Their presence highlighted the political importance of the event and the BJP's commitment to the region's development.
Historical Significance and Development Claims
Saini emphasized Meham's historical importance, noting that decisions made at its "historic chabutra" have often guided society. He claimed that out of 121 schemes launched for the constituency, 105 have been completed, with work ongoing on the remaining projects. The Chief Minister contrasted this with the previous Congress government, alleging corruption and stating that Rs 1,328 crore had been spent on Meham's development during the BJP's tenure, compared to Rs 584 crore under Congress rule.
Criticism of Opposition and Farmer Assurances
Targeting opposition parties, Saini accused them of politicizing disasters like Covid-19 and spreading misinformation on issues such as crop procurement. He assured farmers that every grain would be procured, with the government streamlining systems to avoid inconvenience.
Employment and Local Benefits
On the employment front, Saini highlighted that the state has provided two lakh jobs, including 36,000 in the last year, with approximately 11,500 beneficiaries from Rohtak district. This data was presented to underscore the government's efforts in boosting local employment opportunities.
Concerns Raised by BJP MP Ramchander Jangra
Speaking at the rally, Ramchander Jangra expressed concerns that Meham has remained "neglected" and lacked adequate political representation despite the BJP being in power for multiple terms. He expressed confidence that the constituency would receive due representation by 2029.
Key Demands for Future Development
Jangra also raised several demands for Meham's future development, including:
- Establishment of a women's college
- Repair of dilapidated hospital and stadium buildings
- Upgrade of Meham to a municipal council
- Beautification of ponds
- Development of a tourism site
- Setting up of an Industrial Model Township (IMT) in Meham
These demands highlight ongoing needs in the area and set a potential agenda for future government initiatives.
