Haryana Chief Minister Announces Major Push for Youth Employment and Overseas Opportunities
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, speaking in Chandigarh on Friday, detailed a comprehensive strategy by the state government to enhance skills and generate employment opportunities for the youth within Haryana. Simultaneously, the administration has established a dedicated 'foreign cooperation department' to support those aspiring to study or work abroad.
Addressing Opposition Concerns During Budget Session
Responding to issues raised by the opposition regarding the governor's address during the ongoing budget session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha, CM Saini emphasized the role of the newly formed foreign cooperation department. He explained that the department's official website serves as a vital resource, providing detailed information related to employment, education, trade, and investment opportunities available overseas.
In addition, the platform lists authorized agents who are legally permitted to facilitate international placements, ensuring transparency and security for applicants. The department also offers guidance on the entire process of going abroad, including necessary documentation and the specific assistance provided by the government to streamline these endeavors.
Cracking Down on Illegal Practices and Promoting Legal Channels
Saini highlighted the government's stringent actions against unscrupulous agents who exploit youth through illegal methods, often referred to as the 'donkey route'. To combat fraud in the name of sending people abroad and to regulate travel agents effectively, a new law has been enacted. This legislative measure aims to protect individuals from malpractice and ensure all overseas placements are conducted through legitimate means.
The government is actively promoting legal channels for international employment via Haryana Kaushal Rojgar Nigam Limited (HKRN). HKRN has received in-principle approval for a recruiting agent licence from the Ministry of External Affairs, reinforcing its credibility. Advertisements regarding job opportunities through HKRN are published regularly to keep the public informed.
Successful Initiatives and Future Prospects
The Chief Minister shared notable achievements under these programs. The foreign cooperation department and HKRN jointly organized the Panchjanya-2026 programme on January 3, where offer letters were issued to 210 youth, securing employment in Dubai. Furthermore, 390 youth sent to Israel in two phases are currently earning a monthly salary exceeding Rs 3.38 lakh each, demonstrating the success of these initiatives.
Recently, a significant demand for 10,000 workers was received from international markets. In response, HKRN has issued advertisements to send 7,600 eligible beneficiaries to Israel and 100 beneficiaries to Oman, with the selection process currently underway. These efforts underscore the government's commitment to expanding global opportunities for Haryana's youth while maintaining strict regulatory oversight.
