Chandigarh: With an eye on the upcoming Punjab assembly elections, Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday pitched the ‘Haryana model' while highlighting the NDA government's achievements over the past 12 years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Press Conference Marks 12 Years of Modi Government
Addressing a press conference to mark 12 years of the Modi government at the Centre, Saini said Haryana had witnessed rapid development through coordinated efforts by the Centre and the state over the past decade. Calling Haryana Modi's "karmabhoomi", he noted that the Prime Minister had visited the state 17 times since taking office.
State-Level Achievements Highlighted
Highlighting state-level achievements, Saini said Haryana is procuring all 24 notified crops at the minimum support price (MSP). He also pointed to welfare schemes, including the Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana, Dayalu Yojana, financial assistance programmes for affected families, and support measures for Agniveer families.
The CM said the state had expanded citizen services through online property registration, launched the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana for women's welfare, attracted industrial investments worth nearly three lakh crore rupees, and strengthened regional air connectivity through the expansion of Hisar Airport.
Punjab Politics and Sikh Gurus in Curriculum
Responding to questions on Punjab politics, Saini expressed confidence that the BJP would continue to strengthen its position in the state in future elections. On the issue of Sikh Gurus in educational curricula, he said the matter should remain above electoral politics. He recalled that the Haryana cabinet had approved the transfer of government land to Chilla Sahib Gurdwara, describing it as a reflection of the government's respect for Sikh heritage and religious institutions.
National Issues and Viksit Bharat 2047
Turning to national issues, Saini said the last 12 years under PM Modi have been marked by good governance, welfare-oriented policies and inclusive development. He highlighted the growth of UPI-based digital payments, major investments in highways, expressways, railways, airports and ports, and flagship programmes such as Startup India, Skill India, Digital India and Make in India. He also noted the establishment of more than 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs to promote innovation among students.
The CM said poverty alleviation, housing, women's empowerment and economic inclusion have remained central to government policy, adding that millions of houses had been built and opportunities expanded through measures such as reservation for economically weaker sections.
Response to Criticism on Ambedkar Libraries
Replying to criticism from Haryana Congress leaders over naming public libraries after Dr B R Ambedkar, Saini said Babasaheb Ambedkar is respected across the country and that the Modi government had taken several steps to honour his legacy.
Saini said the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 is a national mission involving every citizen. He called on people to contribute towards building a stronger, more prosperous and developed India.
