Haryana Congress Cracks Down on Discipline Violations
The Haryana Congress disciplinary committee has taken a firm stance against party leaders who violated established protocols during a recent program in Hisar. Committee chairman Dharampal Malik announced on Saturday that show-cause notices will be issued to identified leaders who ignored party decorum and guidelines.
Missing Photo Sparks Disciplinary Action
The disciplinary action was triggered by complaints received by the committee regarding missing photographs of senior party leader and Lok Sabha MP Kumari Selja from event hoardings in Hisar. This violation of party protocol prompted the committee's first major meeting in Ambala, where leaders were explicitly warned to maintain decorum or face action.
Following the disciplinary committee meeting, Malik revealed that several party leaders have been identified and the process of serving notices to them is currently underway. The committee will seek formal replies from Congress leaders who disregarded the party's established protocols during the Hisar program.
Zero Tolerance Policy Announced
Malik emphasized that strict action will be taken against any leaders who make public statements against the party line, regardless of their position as MLAs or senior leaders. The committee has adopted a no-nonsense approach to maintaining party discipline across Haryana.
The meeting at Congress Bhavan in Ambala Cantonment saw participation from numerous district presidents representing both rural and urban constituencies. The disciplinary committee, chaired by Malik, included prominent members such as former MP Kailasho Saini, former MLA Anil Kumar Dhantoori, and member-secretary Advocate Rohit Jain.
Advocate Rohit Jain, serving as member-secretary, expressed concern about certain leaders damaging the party's public image by making unnecessary statements against party colleagues through various media platforms, including social media. He confirmed that the discipline committee has received complaints against such leaders and these are currently under review.
Based on concrete evidence, the committee will recommend appropriate action against violators. Jain stressed that all district presidents, senior leaders, and party workers must strictly adhere to organizational guidelines issued by the party leadership.
Complaints and Zonal Meetings
Malik further clarified that leaders found violating party guidelines will receive show-cause notices, and if their responses prove unsatisfactory, strict disciplinary measures will follow. The committee has so far received four written complaints along with several others through media reports, totaling approximately 10-12 complaints.
The chairman assured that no leniency will be shown toward anyone involved in making irresponsible statements that could harm party unity and image. The discipline committee has planned a comprehensive outreach program, dividing Haryana into five zones for systematic meetings:
- Zone 1: Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Ambala, Kurukshetra, and Kaithal
- Zone 2: Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, and Jind
- Zone 3: Rohtak, Jhajjar, Rewari, Mahendragarh, Bhiwani, and Dadri
- Zone 4: Faridabad, Gurugram, Nuh, and Palwal
- Zone 5: Hisar, Rohtak, Fatehabad, and Sirsa
This zonal approach demonstrates the committee's commitment to addressing discipline issues across the entire state, ensuring that party protocols are uniformly maintained at all levels of the organization.
