In a decisive move against administrative negligence, Haryana's Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister, Rajesh Nagar, ordered the immediate suspension of a department inspector and directed the registration of police cases in three separate matters. The actions were taken during a District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee meeting held in Kurukshetra on Tuesday.
Minister Cracks Down on Departmental Lapses
Presiding over the meeting at the new Mini Secretariat's auditorium, Minister Rajesh Nagar made it clear that strict action would be taken against officials found violating departmental rules. The suspension of Food Supplies Department Inspector Naveen was ordered based on the findings of an inquiry committee led by SDM Ladwa, Anubhav Mehta.
The inquiry revealed serious procedural lapses by the inspector, including actions contrary to established norms. A significant irregularity uncovered was that ration supplies for certain villages had been wrongly linked with distant villages, causing substantial inconvenience to the beneficiaries. In a related complaint, the father of a depot holder submitted a written statement alleging that officials had coerced him into giving incorrect testimony.
FIRs Ordered and Grievances Addressed
Taking serious note of these findings, Minister Nagar not only suspended Inspector Naveen but also directed that First Information Reports (FIRs) be registered in three distinct cases involving an inspector and a sub-inspector. The meeting, attended by key officials including Kurukshetra DC Vishram Kumar Meena, SP Nitish Aggarwal, MLAs Ashok Arora and Ram Karan Kala, and District BJP President Tejinder Singh Goldy, saw a proactive approach to public complaints.
Out of the 15 complaints taken up during the session, nine were resolved on the spot. The minister issued specific directives on various issues:
- Kurukshetra University was directed to verify the caste and income certificates of complainant Simran from Kataldi village and waive her fees accordingly.
- The Shahabad Municipal Committee was instructed to demarcate land and construct a road without encroaching on a property, as per a complaint by advocate Amarjit Singh Virk.
- In a land encroachment case filed by Som Prakash and Gagandeep of Vishnu Colony, the district administration and police were ordered to restore the complainants' possession and register a case against the accused.
Swift Action on Diverse Public Complaints
The minister's intervention extended to several other grievances. He ordered that a shop demolished in Chhota Bazaar be repaired immediately by those responsible, with a police case to be filed if the repairs were not undertaken. In an agricultural matter, action was ordered against a farmer in Kheda village for allegedly blocking a government culvert with soil, which obstructed water flow and caused waterlogging.
To ensure fair hearings, a two-member committee was formed to hear both sides in a property dispute raised by Manju Lata from Darra Kalan. Furthermore, on the demand of Sapna Devi from Thaska Ali village, the minister directed that an inquiry be conducted by a different Deputy Superintendent of Police.
The meeting was marked by the presence of senior officers, including Zila Parishad Chairperson Kanwaljeet Kaur, SDMs Shashwat Sangwan, Anubhav Mehta, Anil Dutt, and Chinar, among others, underscoring the administration's commitment to addressing public concerns promptly and effectively.
